Recording Computer Screen?

I am trying to record a video of runescape on the computer screen to post on youtube, and I use Camstudio and at times when it saves…It freezes and the file gets corrupted…but that ain’t the major problem…when I pick my range i want to record, a black flashing block comes up when I press record (a black rectangle that is in the middle of the screen that takes up 1/4 of the screen in width and 1/2 the screen in length),
If you could understand that, well first congratz, but could you please help me get rid of that black screen
