Is there any way to lower the background music on Camtasia Studio 6?

I want to begin doing Let’s Plays on YouTube, and when I record, the computer audio is always louder than my microphone when I am talking. I was wondering if there is any way to remedy this? So that my voice is more audible than the music coming from what I am recording. Thanks!

Yes. On the Camtasia Studio 6 Timeline you’ll find a button that will lower (or raise) the volume in 25% increments. The button is small and hard to see… but it’s there.

The computer audio? Okay, you’re none too clear on what exactly the audio is that is too loud here. Is it the system sounds? If it is, then click on the speaker icon before you begin recording, select the mixer link (if you’re using Windows 7 or Vista) and reduce the system sounds. If it’s mouse clicks and stuff, then it’s a case of clicking on Effects in the Camtasia recorder interface and selecting ‘mute’, or if it’s a case of an MP3 or other audio track you’re playing, then you really should consider not playing and recording your own voice at the same time. Instead just insert the audio file into the timeline as a seperate audio track so you can reduce the volume of it as you go along by selecting the appropriate parts of the timeline – locking either the audio file section or your recorded voice section – as you go along. It’s not all too clear from me I’m afraid. You couldn’t do worse than google the video "Audio Enhancements" + "Camtasia" and seeing what you come up with. There’s plenty of video tutorials from their website that will tell you how to fix this issue.
Hope you can get it sorted out!
